Comments:
Hi
I have modified the pictures and tried to make it bigger, hope the memory banks fill in the blanks, Linda do retrieve some more pictures, check with Anne, Jude and Naresh,
Paul would also be in Coonoor by wednesday
I have given him a tutorial of how to post pictures, hopefully we should have more contributions, also get after the principal from my side, we need to get him to read his old friends comments,

I only ever went to Stanes for 2 years Std 2 and 3 in 1959 and 1960. My father was transferred to Delhi and I studied and went to university in the North, worked in Bombay and then migrated to Australia and after many years was transferred to Singapore where I now live. In all these years, though I have never been back, I have also never forgotten those precious first 8 years of childhood that I had in the Nilgiris. I had the class photo from Std 3 Stanes in a shoe box and just decided that the insects were getting to it and so scanned it. I then thought that perhaps some old Stanes Alumni might be interested, so did a trusty Google search and landed at your site where by chance, I happened to click on the first link on the left. I was absolutely amazed to be confronted with the very same class photograph from 1960! I had forgotten most of the name but I recognised many when I read them. And even more amazingly, someone had remembered my name. That is me in the 2nd row sitting on the ground, second from left between Balasubramaniam and Eric (I was Ravi Shanker in school - so Shanker was good!). I can add a couple of more names - the person standing on the extreme left, second row from top is R. Bharath - unfortunately he passed away many years ago. And the boy sitting in front of Ms. Kanaka is Suri Menon - our fathers were colleagues at the cordite factory in Aravankadu.I seem to remember the principal sitting next to Ms Kanaka as Ms Barton not Ms Barnes - but after 52 years, it's probably my memory playing tricks. If someone wants a high resolution scan of the photo, please ask.
