Pictures from a bygone era

Some pictures of Stanes Students collected from social Media

Comments:
Wren Johnson is in the last row of last picture, third from left.
In the pyramid photo, first row , last man on the right is wearing a white Veshti or mundu.I never saw this in my time at Stanes. Our Science master Mr. C.P. Verghese wore a white mundu one day but was asked by the principal Miss. A. Cherian to wear pants instead. Mr. Verghese who was quick witted retorted back, I will wear pants when you wear a dress instead of a sari. The matter went to Mr. Enwright who reprimanded Mr. Verghese and made him wear pants. Obviously Mr. Verghese, a free thinker could not continue long at Stanes!

Mr. Verghese joined Cordite Factory, where, incidentally, he wore pants. Guess it was the weather and the environment that were instrumental in changing his preferences.

I did not know about the exchange between Mr. Verghese and Miss. Cherian. Good for him.

Once he started wearing pants in Stanes, I think he quite enjoyed them. His hands were always in his pockets which lead to cat-calls of 'pocket billiards.' which evoked a question from him: 'What is the importance of pocket billiards in class?'

I'm sure you must have seen the person wearing the white Veshti, Peter. He was Mr. Mathews who used to be in the school office. A relative of P.G. Mathew, I think.
